I created these card designs for the Essex stamp club meeting in November. I reached out to the original organizer for the group to ask her a very vague question – would you prefer a card in blues or purples? To which she asked – is it for a Christmas card? When I replied in the affirmative, she quickly responded that she definitely preferred blue as a more traditional color scheme for Christmas. Little did I know that she was in the car with her sister (who is also a club member) and she also weighed in (unbeknownst to me).

Thankfully, all of the ladies really loved this card! Both of them are really pretty IRL, and I love the simplicity of the design. I used this past sketch that you see here as the basis for the design. A pretty tone-on-tone DSP strip for the sentiment on the front adds a nice touch of visual interest. But really the “star” of the card (pun intended) is the multi-layered star on the front. The stamps and coordinating dies really create beautiful stars for Christmas cards. Both the stamps and dies are in the main catalog – I encourage you to check them out. I like this design so much that I may make a batch of these to start to build my stash for next Christmas (it really is never too early to get started).

So… which color scheme do you prefer? Traditional blue and silver or less traditional purple and gold?
