When I was putting together my wish list for the new Annual Catalog, I wanted to branch out and try something a little different from my usual. Don’t get me wrong – I still got a floral set (my normal jam), but I was looking for something a little different. I fell in love with “It’s a Science” as soon as I saw it. I’m very interested in science-related topics, and I adored chemistry in High School. I also have a friend that has a science-y job, and I suspect she would enjoy this set. So this set made it onto my short list for my first order, and I signed up to create a card using the set for a demonstrator-only swap. I have a feeling that I might be the only one using this set for the swap 😉. I had a lot of fun creating this card, and I look forward to making more with different science themes in the future.
I used this old sketch as the layout inspiration for my card. This felt just right to have a stamped background featuring the nuclear imagery and a punny greeting in the foreground that stands out. Since we don’t have the layering circle dies any more (I’m still sad about that one), I used two circles that are the same size cut with the Stylish Shapes dies. I wanted to have some color contrast to allow the green circle to stand out a bit more from the stamped background. Offsetting circles that are the same size is a cool option to accomplish that.
I had a lot of fun creating my cards for the swap, and I hope my fellow demonstrators like what I created. I will say that I had a heck of a time photographing this card for some reason. I tried multiple times and it always seemed to come out kinda dark. IRL the colors on this card are bright and cheerful!
