First let me say that the colors on the cake aren’t perfect in this picture. IRL there is more differentiation between the drippy/goopy frosting on the cake and the lower frosting. However, my photography skills weren’t up to capturing the slight color differences. I will say that my first attempt at coloring this cake was less than optimal… I used Poppy Parade for the top (drippy) frosting, and it just looked like the cake had dripping blood on it. Not the look that I was going for!

I used this current sketch challenge as the inspiration for my card design. I had taken a little break from stamping over the Holidays to recover from the mad-dash of crafting that I did before Christmas. I figured that participating in a challenge was a great way to get back into the game. I hope so because I’ve got a bunch of stamping to do to create some classes that I have buzzing around in my head.

I’m considering using this design for the birthday card ministry cards for this month. I can color a bunch of the cakes in advance, and we can use some retired DSP for the main panel (to make it cost effective). What do you think – would you like to receive one of these birthday wishes?
