I know that my post name may seem a little weird given our current global situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There are just so many dark, scary things in the news every day and we are not allowed (for very good reason) to do the one thing that we normally would do to get us through this – get together with people that we care for and physically hold them for comfort.

However, I personally have found that remembering the little blessings of life are a way to cope with this challenge. I’m not being a Pollyanna – I recognize that people are struggling with unprecedented challenges with health, financial security, and general uncertainty. But I’m finding that little things are getting me through. Like taking a walk in my neighborhood on a sunny day and greeting neighbors that are out doing yard work or enjoying some outdoor fun. Today I saw a family having fun playing cornhole in their front yard. I’d never met them before, and I enjoyed cheering as I walked by as the youngest sunk their bag through the hole. And they appreciated my cheering from the sidewalk. Our exchange gave a little lift to my spirit. Yesterday I had two wonderful things that brightened my day: I called my Aunt Jackie and had a lovely time catching up, and I made a batch of these cards to thank people for online orders. Not complicated stuff, not massive, but positive things that I found to be blessings in my day.

I used this sketch as the structure for my card layout so that I could participate in this challenge. I like how this card turned out, and I was happy to try out a couple of new products from the Ornate Garden Suite. For the rectangular panel, I used my favorite pattern from the Best Dressed DSP from the January – June Mini Catalog. I also pulled out some retired pearls to add a bit of prettiness and dimension.

So, I ask you… what blessings are you finding in your days? Are you doing some crafting to keep your hands and mind busy?
