The original purpose for this card was so that I could participate in the current challenge on the Freshly Made Sketches blog (I lurv their sketches). But – I also wanted to take the opportunity to wish Tom Hanks a Happy Birthday since it just happens to be his special day today.
When I saw the sketch shown here, my brain immediately went to "shaker card" for the central image. Stampin' Up! has two new items in the big catalog that are perfect for making shaker cards: the awesome foam adhesive strips and the fun Sprinkles punch. I must have had my punched Sprinkles bits too bunched up when I lined up my top layer over them because there is a clump that insists on sticking together (that you can see in the photo). Regardless, I'm pleased with how this card turned out – it was a lovely way to spend a rainy weekend morning creating.
I also pulled out an old color challenge for the color combination that I used here. I think it is a perfect color combination for a summery card. Of course, Certainly Celery is not a color that is available any more, so I substituted Pear Pizzazz instead for the card base and some of the Sprinkles bits in the shaker "zone". I'm also happily rediscovering the awesomeness of the Brights DSP stack. These patterns are so versatile and they really add something extra to a card.
