This cute treat holder was one of the projects that I made during the online stamping event that I attended last month. One of the leaders always includes some sort of box because she absolutely loves them. This one is a twist on a matchbox holder that also has a card attached. I’m not sure that I’ve ever seen something quite like this project so it was fun to try it out. She showed several options for things to put inside the box. One option is to wrap 8 Hershey Nuggets with coordinating DSP. Other options include 3 Ferrero Rocher or a 4″ long candy bar like a Snickers or Milky Way.
I don’t feel like I can share the dimensions or directions for this project to honor the creative intellectual property of the demonstrator that taught us this cool box. There are lots of tutorials online for various matchbox holders and Hershey Nugget holders, so I encourage you to do a internet search for those to get ideas and measurements.
This is what the box looks like when it’s “open”. It’s easy to see the card at the top that is open with a panel inside to add a little note to go with the gift. It’s harder to see that the treat holder is pulled out a bit on the right end of the holder. It’s made with Early Espresso cardstock so it tends to blend into the woodgrain background that I used for my picture. The leader showed using a circle punch to make a notch in the 2 ends of the slide-out treat holder to make it easy to grab. I didn’t feel like getting up to retrieve a circle punch, so I used the center of the Heartfelt Hexagon punch instead. It worked perfectly! So my tip – if you need to make a notch, look at what you have because there are lots of options that will work.
