There isn’t much that is “ordinary” now or for the last year. Or rather, I have a lot more ordinary in my life than I would like. And by ordinary I mean working (from home), attending church (online, from home), attending meetings (from home) and crafting (only at home). This week I had a treat though – I got to meet with 2 of my regular stamping groups! Of course, I was at home for these meetings because we used online technologies to meet virtually, but it was SO GREAT to get to talk with these ladies that I’ve been missing so much. Once we are able to meet again in person, I think it will be quite a while before I consider these gatherings as “ordinary”. This winter has been so tough because I really miss seeing folks in person, and I am wistfully thinking about the day when I will be able to get the vaccine and get a major step closer to gathering with these amazing people.

I designed this card for one of the stamping group meetings. I wanted to highlight the Oh So Ombre paper that is only available for a couple of days as part of the Sale-A-Bration special. And I thought that the background die in the Potted Succulents would be a perfect pairing to show off the pretty paper and provide a great background for a beautiful greeting. I really love the Simply Succulents bundle in the January – June catalog, and I wanted to give the group an opportunity to play with a couple of the diecut elements. I applied some adhesive sheet to the Merry Merlot cardstock before diecutting with the background die to make it simple and NOT messy to attach to the card. The group really appreciated that!

I used this old sketch as the inspiration for my card design. I thought that an interesting background with a highlighted greeting were just the ticket to highlight features of the bundle. I do enjoy layering diecuts to add interest to a greeting or focal point, and I had fun pairing them for this card.
