I immediately fell in love with the Terrific Toadstools stamp set when I had my first look at the new January – April mini catalog. A big thing that I love about it is that it’s different than anything that Stampin’ Up!™ has offered in the past. I didn’t purchase the coordinating punch because I figured that I could easily fussy cut the images if I want to have the elements separated. I may regret it, but I didn’t need the punch for this first creation with the set. I used masking paper so I could have the top of the pink mushroom look correct against the stem and so the stems looked right coming out of the grass. I really like how the stamped images turned out!

I started working on this card about a week ago, but I had a lot going on so I didn’t get it all together until yesterday. Also, I didn’t like the first iteration that I put together – I had white cardstock instead of the Soft Sea Foam and the focal image didn’t stand out enough for my taste. Therefore I missed the deadline to participate in the challenge when it was still active.

That’s the cool thing about the sketch sites that provide this inspiration. Yes there is a deadline to participate in the challenge while it’s active and potentially have your card selected as a winner or runner-up. After the deadline has come and gone the sketch is still perfectly good for design inspiration. I really liked this one and I wanted to share my creation even though it was after the deadline. I hope you enjoy it.

I am still using the Deckled Circles dies even though they have been discontinued. I’m thinking about continuing to use some of the versatile dies and other tools even after they have retired. In the past I’ve mostly kept my projects focused on using current products (except for my church card ministry projects) so that if there’s something you like you know that you can purchase it. However, there are some retired products that are so useful (like these circle dies) and there are people that have them in their stash, so I don’t think it’s so horrible to include them. What do you think? Should I stick to current only products (except for my church ministry cards)?
