I created this card for one of the virtual stamp club gatherings that I had late last month. I fell in love with the cuteness of the Snail Mail Suite when I had my first look at the January – June mini catalog. So I knew that I had to feature some of these products in one of the cards for the group. I don’t know yet what will be carrying over into the new catalog from the mini catalog, but I’ve got my fingers crossed that this super-cute bundle will be one of them. I haven’t been able to fit in enough creating with it yet, and I want longer to play with it.
When I saw the images I immediately thought of Sponge Bob’s pet Gary the snail. I just looked up Gary and the likeness isn’t as strong as I thought, but I think that the extra-large eyes are the reason for my mental comparison. I’m not the only one, either. One of the club gals immediately saw the likeness and she put “meow” in the word bubble. If you’re not a Sponge Bob Square Pants aficionado, that’s the only thing that Gary says.
I used this old sketch as the layout inspiration for my card design. I flipped the circles from the right to the left, and added a few layers. I wanted to introduce the group to a slimline card and this seemed a perfect sketch for the Snail Mail elements.
I do wish that I cut the patterned paper near the bottom and flipped it so that the pattern was broken up a little bit. Other than that, I really like how this card turned out and think it shows off the suite in a cute way.
