I was inspired to play last evening so I could participate in two challenges this week; more on those challenges in a bit. For this card I decided to focus (mostly) on items from the Annual catalog. When a new seasonal catalog has come out, it is so easy to overlook all of the lovely products that fill up the main catalog. The one exception is the die that I used to cut out the greeting – that is from the Hummingbird Framelits in the Occasions catalog. I haven’t pulled out the Flourishing Phrases stamp set in so long, and there are some beautiful greeting images in that set, so it was time to ink it up again. My one complaint… the stamp that coordinates with this greeting “so he made you.” is pretty tiny (all by itself) for the inside of the card. But, I think it would be lovely on a small banner to go with the other image. I already had so much going on in that corner that I didn’t want to add another element. Despite what Mae West said, it is possible to have too much of a good thing. 😉

This is the first of the two challenges that I used for inspiration for this card. I noodled a bit on the tall vertical element, and then I remembered the beautiful, lacy Edgelit dies from the Annual catalog. With that in mind, I had a good starting point for this card design. And, the softness of the lacy edge lends itself to the pastel colors in the other challenge…

These pretty colors are beautiful together. I decided to add two neutrals (Very Vanilla and Soft Suede) to round out the palette for the finished card. Adding neutrals allowed me to have some visual contrast while not really changing the overall feel of the softness of these challenge colors.

There you have it – two challenges came together for me for this pretty card. What do you think – do you like the way that I interpreted the challenges?
