I had so much fun coloring these cute images, and a grid layout is totally my jam. The Taco Fiesta stamp set was the first thing that I knew I wanted when the January – April mini catalog first unveiled to demonstrators. I followed through and included it in my pre-order so I could use it ASAP, including for a demonstrator swap that I posted here. There are a couple of things that I want to point out that may have you scratching your head. First – the sun in the corner of the cactus square is actually the sliced avocado stamp. I inked it up, and then wiped off the ink from the center core; I think it’s a successful re-envisioning! Second, I hand drew the rays from that sun and the slightly squiggly frame around the jalapeño using a super-fine tip marker (non Stampin’ Up!). I think the most unexpected thing on my card is the corn chips in the bottom left square. My husband was dubious (although he tends to be very literal in colors for things), and then I explained they are blue corn chips. That seemed to appease him, although I think he still thought it was an odd choice. 🤨

This sketch was the inspiration for my card. As I said earlier, a grid layout is one of my absolute favorite things to do, so I knew right away that I had to create for the challenge. I rotated the grid to create a landscape card which would work better with the bottom left and top right sections. You can’t tell from the picture, but I’ve lifted up the bottom left section so that it creates a bit of emphasis on that area of the card. I did spend a little time thinking about adding some embellishments like black dots or something, but ultimately decided that would be too much.

I’m also really excited that this stamp set will be in the new catalog, so I’ll be able to continue to create with it. Stay tuned, I’m sure that you’ll see this set featured here again!
