This is the second card that I made for a recent demonstrator-only swap; last week I shared the other card that you can see here. I have to say that this set wasn’t my first choice (or even my second). However, I purchased it to participate in an online creative event that Stampin’ Up! offered to demonstrators. I’ll be sharing the projects that I made during that event in future posts. Because of that event and creating this swap card I have to say that the Splendid Day Suite has really grown on me. I especially appreciate that there is a non-Fall, non-Holiday suite in the July – December mini catalog. This is kind of breaking the tradition of that catalog, and I love it. Since the mini starts in July, there’s actually a couple of months for the catalog where people aren’t really feeling like Autumn or Christmas, so having something that works at any time in the year is brilliant. I also have to say that the foil paper that is in this suite really is da bomb! In fact, during the creativity event Stampin’ Up! did a quick poll and the participants voted the Splendid Day Specialty DSP as their favorite part of the suite by a landslide. They also had an interview with the designer who worked on the suite and it really was very cool to get insights into how it was designed. I encourage you to take a few minutes and give the suite a once-over; it really is pretty special.
This recent sketch was the inspiration for my card. Mine has a few more layers than indicated by the sketch, but I think you can easily see this layout in my final design. Since it was a swap for demonstrators, I wanted to include some extra pizzazz with the extra layers and embellishments. A small piece of the Soft Sea Foam Seam Binding added a soft touch of texture and I really love the softness of the embossed background. That was actually very easy to do and I really love how it brings out the embossed image a bit without being overwhelming. All I did was rub the White Craft ink pad lightly on the embossed paper. Nothing fancy, and the look is delightful.
