It has been a while since I posted something here, and I want to give you an update. Since this is the internet and private things aren’t really private, I won’t go into too much detail. On a recent evening my husband and I were involved in a car accident as I was driving us home from an outing. We went to the hospital and were able to go home after I received treatment. We both have injuries that are improving, but it’s a slow process. We’re both back at work – thank goodness I work from home which makes this possible for me. I don’t want to be overly dramatic, but we are very grateful for the engineering of my Prius which crumpled and definitely reduced our injuries from what they could have been. Steve said to me as we were in the emergency room “God was in the car with us tonight” and I wholeheartedly agree. So… card making and blogging haven’t been my highest priorities. When I’m not working, I’m mostly resting watching TV or reading. However this weekend I was able to have the Background Check class, go to church (in person) on Sunday, and make a card on Sunday afternoon. Those “normal” activities are a real treat and I really appreciate all of them!

Back to a normal blog post. 😊 I created this card during an online card making class that I attended in January. The person who taught this card called the section on the left a “twisted ribbon” layer. I used 1/2″ x 6″ patterned paper strips of 2 different designs to create the layer. I don’t want to go into the details of how to do this since I feel her instructions are her intellectual property. If you do a search for “twisted ribbon” you will find some videos that show how to do this technique. It is actually simpler than it looks, and I encourage you to give it a try. It really is a great way to use some of those patterned paper scraps that you’ve been saving.

This is the inside of the card. There are some great images for coloring in the Everyday Details stamp set. I also love the coordinating dies because they include very useful circle and rectangle shapes. This great bundle is in the January – April mini catalog and I encourage you to check it out!
