I had some crafting time today, and I’m so glad because I really need to get a bunch of Christmas cards whipped up! I made a small batch of this card, and they went together pretty quickly. Thank goodness, I need several more productive sessions that go as quickly and smoothly as this one. I pulled together elements from different bundles for this creation, and I’m very pleased with how it turned out. I don’t tend to make rustic looking Christmas cards but it felt perfect for the plaid paper which was my starting point for this card. In fact, my husband just got home from work, saw these cards on the counter and commented that he really likes them. Gotta love him!

This sketch challenge was the inspiration for my layout. I knew immediately that I wanted to put the patterned paper on the left side of the center panel, and the rest just flowed from there. This sketch is really a great starting point to showcase a little DSP and perhaps an embossed or stamped section. I opted to use a background stamp for the right side of the center panel. This is the first time that I’ve inked up the Birch stamp, and it felt perfect for this card.

This challenge is what initiated my card design. I chose the top-left to bottom right diagonal: Plaid – Holiday – Neutral color. This sent me to the Plaid Tidings patterned paper as a starting point. I really love that paper, especially how all of the color combinations are useful throughout the year. I included PLENTY of neutral color with the surfeit of Crumb Cake in this card, and I decided to go with Christmas for my Holiday.

Edited November 23rd – I’m so excited to share that my card was selected as one of four Team Picks for the challenge. This totally made my day when I received the email announcing the winners! I can’t wait to participate in another challenge to explore more creativity and inspiration.
