Non-Christmas Birthday

I made a batch of these cards for the December card ministry for our church. I know a few people who had December birthdays and they consistently mentioned that their special day historically has been overwhelmed by Christmas. They received the dreaded combo birthday and Christmas gifts throughout the years and other slights. I keep this in mind when I’m creating the cards for this month every year. I don’t want there to be a whiff of Christmas in their cards so that they really are getting a celebration of their birthday.

These cards have a combination of retired products, current Stampin’ Up!™ items, and some non-Stampin’ Up! patterned paper from my stash. This shows that you can use all of the stuff that you have to create – the important thing is to get out the stuff you have and make something. The scallop and ric-rac die cuts are from a really old BigzXL die that Stampin’ Up! sold over a decade ago. I’ve held onto that die because the elements are so incredibly useful. I used a current stamp and die for the greeting, and the cardstock colors are also current.

I really hope that the people with birthdays this month enjoy these bright, cheerful, non-Christmas themed birthday cards!
