Stamped cookies are here
Stampin' Up! has created these fun cookie presses, and they became available shortly after the Holiday Mini catalog became active. The kit includes a solid wood handle, three interchangeable stamp images, two recipes and tips for use. You can see two of the stamps in the picture and the third is a very cute jack-o-lantern image. They are perfect for the current set of holidays. And I have a secret for you… three more stamp images are going to be introduced in the Occasions Mini catalog that starts on January 3rd.
I have some additional tips to share for the cookie stamps:
- Use recipes that don't include baking powder or baking soda. Cookies that rise at all will lose the edges of the stamped impressions. With some recipes, you won't be able to tell that they are stamped at all once they are baked.
- As you use the press, the dough may start to stick. I found that if I removed the sticking dough, and then covered the stamp with sugar before stamping on each cookie, I didn't have a problem any more with sticking.
- There are lots of great sites for cookie recipes, but I really like this site here.
- Clean up is a breeze with hand washing using normal soap and water.
I made a batch of cookies to share with my stamp club gals last evening, and they were a hit. I used the brown sugar shortbread recipe from the site I mentioned earlier. The cookies were soooo yummy and cute, and they were super easy to make. I give the cookie stamps two thumbs up. They are easy to use and they would be very fun for baking with children. I look forward to hearing of your cookie stamping adventures!
