to inspire
While I was in San Antonio I also attended a Stampin' Up! Regional conference that immediately followed the Leadership Conference. It was loads of fun, and I we all got some freebies at that event as well. Regional Conferences don't come to my corner of the country that often, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to attend one when I was already in town.
Carrie Cudney is a Stampin' Up! employee who helps with training events, and she has always done a demonstration on the main stage for every one that I've been able to attend. Like all of their presenters, she seems really sweet and is loads of fun. Her presentation at this event was on creativity. The focus is that we are all creative, but through the process of growing up, we've come to doubt that in ourselves. She gave us each a 5" x 5" journal with challenges to create in the journal. Then, she had Shannon West and Pam Morgan (fellow SU employees) join her on stage and show us each of their journals. This is a picture of the cover of Pam's journal. I absolutely love the DSP that's available through SAB, and she used several of the patterns to make the butterflies on her cover. I just had to share it with you.
I must confess that I haven't done any of the challenges yet in my journal, but I will try to get to it. Perhaps that is my biggest creativity challenge – feeling free to take the time to do something creative. Just for me. I may start with what seems like the simplest challenge: "In your journal, write the phrase 'I am creative' 25 times. Make it look different each time you write it.".
That brings me to my challenge to you – do something creative today. It doesn't have to be something big or meaningful. Make a drawing, color a picture, whistle a made-up tune, decorate a jar, play dress up with a child, anything goes. In the formerly ubiquitous Nike branding: "Just do it!".
