Sorry that it’s been a while since I posted. New catalog time is very busy for a demonstrator, and when there is a color re-vamp it is even more so. I have been busy organizing, although if you were to look at the chaos in my dining room you wouldn’t think I’ve been organizing anything. I hope that my efforts will make my life easier when I hold my stamping yard sale.

As to the subject of this post – I just heard on the radio that today is Nicole Kidman’s birthday. I have loved watching her in so many roles. My most recent is “Big Little Lies” on HBO, which is a powerful series about complicated lives that aren’t outwardly visible. I encourage you to check it out if you can.

I designed this card for a demonstrator swap that I’m participating in. This cute vase and flower stamp set is so awesome, that I knew that I had to purchase it during the demonstrator pre-order period. I didn’t use it on this card, but I have to tell you that there is a coordinating punch that is part of a bundle. Huzzah! The pretty papers are also new in this catalog and they really are fantastic and could easily be the focal point of a bright and cheery card.

I used a couple of resources that I found on-line for this card. The first is a color combination. When I looked at the color challenge image, I thought that the background of the cute shower curtain looked much more like Night of Navy than Concord Grape (which I don’t have anyhow). So, that is one color substitution that I made for this card. I love the bright colors together – what do you think?

The other element that I used in the design was this card sketch. I actually designed this card at the end of the challenge period, but obviously I didn’t get around to posting it in time to participate. I think this sketch is great for placing some pretty DSP (Designer Series Paper) in the vertical panel behind the circle. Due to the size of the patterned paper (it is a 6×6″ stack) and the need to make a bunch, I got a bit creative and used two papers on the panel in my finished card. Thankfully there were two different patterns that are Melon Mambo so I could pull it off.
