Last weekend I created a batch of these cards to send out for Valentine's Day this year. I totally believe that Valentine's cards are great for friends and families and not just for your sweetie. This card is one of those card designs that just comes together like a breeze. I was able to use several items from the Occasions mini catalog and that made me very happy. I also tried something a little different with the Happy Heart embossing folder; unfortunately it is a little hard to see in the picture here. I inked up the raised heart outline side of the embossing folder with Cherry Cobbler ink, and then laid it over a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock. The end result is like I stamped it with a background stamp. I love doing different things with our awesome embossing folders!
When I started to design my card I searched and found the card sketch to the right here. I love the designs that you can find on the Mojo Monday site, and I was drawn to this one because it was a simpler design with a few elements. I substituted a die-cut heart for the circle and I was off to the races.
And then I found color inspiration at my favorite color site. The color combo challenge is shown below. I think these little socks are just absolutely darling! And while the color combination isn't exactly a traditional Valentine color scheme, it isn't too far afield, either.
What do you think? Does it all work together?
