It’s that time of the month again (hee hee, not what you may be thinking).š It’s time to for me to make a large batch of birthday cards for the church card ministry. April is a really big month requiring 38 cards! So I decided to go with minimal stamping and use some of my fun patterned paper that just retired. I still absolutely love the Toadstool Gardens paper and I was happy to pull it out for a batch of cards. I hope that the recipients all enjoy the cute toadstools and bright papers. It’s great to celebrate a birthday with some nice bright colors and shiny gold stars.
About those stars – you won’t find them in the Stampin’ Up!⢠store online. I purchased a bag of star confetti from Amazon a few months ago. There are stars in the 2 sizes that you see here on the card. I have enough stars to decorate every card that I make for the rest of my life!

I have friends that cringe at the idea of making a card in a grid layout. I absolutely love them! This time I decided to go full engineer on getting the grid layout to line up in the same way as the original design that I created. On my glass mat I used some low-stick tap to mark the bottom and right edge so I could like up every card in the same position, centered over a vertical grid line. The piece of tape in the upper right is used to line up the top of the T-rule that I used for placement of the bottom square. Please do not be intimidated! You don’t need to go to this level of geekiness for card creating, this is just something that makes me feel good as I create. If you don’t want to go to this extreme for precision, then please don’t. If you’re worried about the squares not lining up, you can put them on the card at various angles to give it a more free-wheeling look.
