Cute and sturdy Today is Diahann Carroll’s birthday, so it is a wonderful opportunity to share another birthday related project. I’ll admit that I’m a fan of the cable show “White Collar” which features the oh-so-dreamy Matt Bomer as the star character – Neal. But as I’ve watched, I’ve grown attached to many of the characters, including Neal’s landlord, June, who is played by Diahann Carroll. She shows up occasionally, but there are always interesting things going on when she does. So, I think it would be great to give her a little something for her birthday in this really cute little box.

We made this box in our May club meeting and the gals were impressed with how easy it is to create. There is a secret ingredient used for these boxes, too. I openly admit that I love to repurpose things that have lived out their original use. In this case, I cut cereal boxes down to 5″ x 4″ and adhered DSP to both sides before cutting with the Top Note die. Voilà, light chipboard style bases for the box that used up something that was going to be recyled anyway. This makes the cereal box much more pretty, don’t you think?

I used the following materials to make this box:

  • Stamps: A Fitting Occasion
  • Cardstock: Daffodil Delight, Chocolate Chip, Lucky Limeade (retired), Whisper White
  • Ink: Lucky Limeade, Tangerine Tango
  • Accessories: Sizzix Top Note Bigz die, International Bazaar DSP (retired), Daffodil Delight 1/8″ Taffeta ribbon, Chocolate Chip 1/2″ Scallop Dots ribbon (retired), 1 3/4″ Scallop Circle punch, 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle punch, 1″ Circle punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals
