I’ve been taking a break from stamping. This seems to happen every year… I binge on creating Christmas cards and take a break to celebrate the Holidays. Then I find that I’m slow to re-discover my stamping mojo to get creating again. I’m going to make an extra effort to push through this year; I find that the more I create the more that I want to create. So I’m going to use some challenges for inspiration to “prime the pump”.
When I first saw this suite at the On Stage Online event in November, I was on the fence. I readily admit that I’m a sucker for flowers, so that is a draw. But then I saw demonstrations for the suite and I absolutely fell in love. I purchased almost everything in the suite and I’m really looking forward to creating more with it. I’m especially excited (and a little nervous) to play with the Gilded Leafing. Shelli did warn us in the presentation that it can easily spread all over – and then she accidentally knocked the plastic container and indeed it went Everywhere! It was funny to watch, but I cringed at the work for the folks that had to clean it up.
I used this current sketch challenge from Freshly Made Sketches as the inspiration for my card. I knew that I wanted to use the word diecuts from the coordinating dies as the focal point for this card. I chose a “b-side” pattern from the Fine Art Floral paper because I wanted something that was more subtle to not overwhelm the card. The patterns in this paper are stunning with some absolutely beautiful artwork flowers on the “a-side”. I can’t wait to create some projects featuring some of those painted papers.
I love how you did the sentiment! The colors and paper you used are gorgeous. Thank you for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.
Thank you so much Kim – your kind words have made my day!
