Smile Card It makes me smile

I know that I'm really late to the bandwagon, but I have fallen in love with the TV show The Big Bang Theory.  Every one of the characters is a real hoot!  Being a computer geek for my day job, and hanging out with fellow geeks helps me totally relate to the show.  I recently shared my love for the show on Facebook, and a friend of mine replied "I don't need to watch it, I live it!".  And knowing her family, I have to agree.  My son is close friends with all 3 of her sons, along with several other like-minded boys (and even a couple of girls) and he feels the same way.  He gets to observe them in action every day, and he doesn't need to watch even more.  Anyhow, when I watch the show, I'm laughing out loud for the full 1/2 hour and it totally makes me happy.  So, this card kind of reflects my feeling for the show.  I'd really send it to one of my friends to let them know I'm thinking of them, but I couldn't pass up sharing my love for the TV show.

We made this card recently at a Stamp Club gathering.  The technique focus for this card is acrylic block stamping. That's how I got the lighter blue background behind the stamped flower.  It is super easy to do: just ink up an acrylic block like it is a stamp (using a lighter color) and stamp on your paper.  Then, stamp over it with your regular stamp using a darker ink, and voilà you have a cool image!  This card also features a couple of items that are available for free during the Sale-A-Bration promotion; the flower & greeting stamp and the lined embossing folder.

I used the following supplies to make this card:

  • Stamps: Sprinkled Expressions, Confetti
  • Ink: Bashful Blue, Marina Mist, Soft Suede
  • Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Marina Mist, Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Sahara Sand
  • Accessories: Stripes embossing folder, Subtles DSP stack, Bashful Blue 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, Acrylic Block "C", 1 3/4" Scallop Circle punch, 1 3/8" Circle punch
