This is the card design that I created for the September birthdays for our church card ministry. I knew that I would enjoy using the Rings of Love patterned paper for some of these cards, and I was right! I think that this paper is my favorite Sale-A-Bration option, and there’s a lovely variety of designs for cards in different seasons. I used the birds, the oak leaves and the spring-y floral patterns with contrasting paper for the middle section. This month I made 40 cards (one of the bigger months) and I hope that the folks that are celebrating this month enjoy their homemade card.
Today is the last day for Sale-A-Bration and I wanted to get out a last reminder before those products go away. You can see the different Sale-A-Bration options here, and then shop to the level to get the option(s) that you want. For every $50 in merchandise that you purchase (before tax and shipping) you can select a FREE Sale-A-Bration option. There are a few larger freebies that are available with a $100 purchase. Also when you look at the options online you’ll see some regular catalog items are included. This was a change that was made earlier this month to beef up the options available, which is super cool! Happy Shopping!
I used this recent sketch as the inspiration for my card design. I originally was trying to use the current challenge (at the time) which was a grid layout. I really like those types of cards but the sample that I put together had some very fiddly cutting at 1/16th increments and I decided it was going to be challenging to mass produce something with layers that painful to cut. It’s fine for a single card where I can keep shaving off paper to get the precision I want. But I really didn’t have time to do that for 40 cards. So… I went back to the sketch board to find something that would work, and that I could produce quickly. This is the sketch I picked and I’m really happy with how it turned out.
You will notice in the supplies that I used some retired ribbon to add some colorful and tactile interest to the card. I have a large (ahem) stash of retired ribbon and these church birthday ministry cards are a great opportunity to use some of it up.
