I just adore this quirky stamp set! It’s not my usual style with it’s science-y images and punny messages, but something about it just tickles my funny bone. I normally lean toward foliage images, especially flowers, so this is definitely something different for me. And that’s part of what makes it fun, it’s outside of my usual zone. I also enjoy it because I’m a bit of a science nerd. Not that I’m a scientist by any stretch of the imagination, but I love reading about science topics and listening to podcasts about them. There’s perpetually something being discovered, and even older discoveries are still being explained. It’s interesting stuff – at least to me!
Another thing that I love about this stamp set is that it gives me an opportunity to color with my Stampin’ Blends. The line art images are just the ticket for some relaxing coloring, and that adds to the fun. And the cool thing about this image in particular is that you can really go nuts with some bright colors. Sure – a lot of liquid chemicals are clear, but there’s some that are quite colorful (at least in my head). So why not go nuts with some fun, bright colors – especially for a birthday card!
This current sketch challenge was the inspiration for my card design. I decided to lean into the Clean & Simple (CAS) aesthetic and not add a bunch to the top of the card. The design is clear that the bottom should be left clean, but I went minimalist on the top, too. Coloring those various chemistry flasks added lots of color and the Classic Matte Dots were just the right embellishment to make it not too plain. I stacked thin cardstock strips to create the divider between the top and bottom. I’ve used single strips before, and it was an experiment to layer 2 of them. It’s a little fiddly gluing them down but I like the look.
Love that sentiment! Fun card! Glad you joined us at FMS!
