We’re fast approaching the end of the month, and that means that it is time for another batch of birthday cards for our church ministry. The numbers needed each month fluctuates and changes from year to year, and this October has the biggest number of birthdays yet. I made 49 nine copies of this card … that’s right 49! I spent most of the weekend working on these cards, and it was a wonderfully relaxing time. One of the side benefits that I gain from making the cards from this ministry is that I get to use some retired patterned papers that I have in my massive stash. I have an absolute weakness for patterned paper and I love using it on my projects. They are a perfect addition of color and pattern and quickly add some pizzazz to my projects. I get some extra pleasure from using up a teeny-tiny portion of that stash for a good purpose. I hope the October birthday folkz in our church enjoy receiving one of these cards!
Typically I share a sketch challenge or some other inspiration for my card. This card was totally designed by me – no sketch or other inspiration. Of course the season inspired me to use the Gorgeous Leaves stamp set from the Mini catalog – I’m in love with that bundle! The layout is all my own that I created; I have done several cards in the past with strips of DSP on the sides and I’ve really loved them. So I searched through my Fall colored retired papers and found the Moroccan DSP. It added just the right amount of pattern to the card and the center panel gives a nice whitespace to rest your eyes and allow the stamped images to show nicely. I like the fluffed linen trim that bundles the leaves, and it gave me a chance to use some retired ribbon (another huge stash of mine). What do you think – do you like this card design?
