This is the card that I designed for the January birthdays for the church card ministry. I cracked open the package of the Design a Daydream patterned paper that I’ve had for a few months and used several designs on a batch of 24 of these cards. The multi-color diagonal print is the same on all varieties, but I picked different monochromatic colors/patterns for the right-hand side of the cards. Usually I use retired patterned papers for the cards that I make for the card ministry, but this pack of papers is so generous that I didn’t feel any guilt using it while it’s still current. This paper is one of the Host rewards options in the “big” catalog and I’ve used it for a couple of projects that I worked on over my Holiday break. It’s really easy to miss it in the catalog, so I suggest that you check out online here. You can see images of all of the papers, and clearly see which designs are on the flip side for each.

I used this older sketch as the inspiration for my card design. One of the dies in the Basic Borders set makes it soooo easy to create the stitched curve in the right side patterned paper. The trickiest part is figuring out how big the paper on the left needs to be so that the bottom and top of the curve are still covering that paper. You know me – I want to be frugal and get lots of uses out of my paper, but it would be horrible if there was a gap at the top and bottom. I really like the Basic Borders dies and I use them often for my creations. They add just a little bit extra to the card to make it more unique.
