This project was one of the creations that I made in the January online event that I enjoyed. This one was about a cool technique and I really had a lot of fun with it. You’ll notice the block background behind the dragonflies, and that’s the technique part of this card. We inked up an acrylic block, spritzed it with water, and then stamped that block on the cardstock. It’s super cool and easy! It creates an almost watercolor-like background with no skills required. I absolutely love it!

This is the inside of the card. We used the same technique to create the image in the bottom right corner of the inside panel. I love how the look from the front carries through to the inside of the card.
Here’s how to create the block image – I encourage you to give it a try:
- Tap 1/2 of the A block on the Coastal Cabana ink pad
- Tap the other 1/2 of the block on the Azure Afternoon pad
- Spritz the inked block with water a couple of times – the ink will look like it is flowing a little bit
- “Stamp” the inked block onto neutral cardstock (watercolor paper is not required)
- Repeat the process for the number of blocks you want on your project
- Let the cardstock dry, you can use a heat tool to speed up the drying if you want
- Once dry, stamp an image over the colorful block(s)
