I’ve continued to create cards featuring images from the Fully Flowering Ephemera Pack, and this one is the latest. I loved the blues used for the rose and the “greenery” done with Wild Wheat. There really are some great color choices in the Ephemera Pack, and it’s delightful to play with them. For this card I “fancied” up the matted card base with a stamped image. The line art floral image in the Layers of Beauty set is really big, and worked just right for this card (IMHO). I used the absolutely wonderful Basic Beige cardstock and ink for that matted card base layer and I know that I’ll be using this a lot. I’m so glad that Stampin’ UP! added this color to the basics product line.
I do want to describe how I created the little gold dot elements that you see on the card. I put dots of the Metallic Enamel Effects Basics gel on a Silicone Craft Sheet. I let them sit while I did other projects around the house – and a bit of TV watching – to allow them plenty time to harden and dry. Once they were dried, I was able to easily pop them off the Craft Sheet and glue them down on the finished card. This is a great way to create some embellishment dots in any size you need in some great color options. I have one warning – the bigger the dot, the longer it needs to dry and harden. There are two different packs and I really love them; I encourage you to check them out!
I used this older sketch as the inspiration for my card design. I really like the diagonal strips as a unique element that makes the card different than usual. I decided to go with an ombre effect for the strips in different shades of blue. There isn’t a spot on the sketch that is explicitly identified for a sentiment, so I decided to put one on the top strip. The greeting from Latte Love was just the perfect size to fit in the space that I had.
I chose this sketch because I actually started with the blue rose from the Ephemera Pack. That image required a vertical rectangle, so I searched for older sketches with that focal element. When I found this one, it seemed like a perfect fit right away.
