Last weekend I needed to create a whole bunch of cards for the May birthdays at our church. One of my original goals for taking on this specific ministry for our church was to be able to use some of my vast collection of patterned paper that I can’t use for Stampin’ Up!™ classes. The majority of the patterned paper that I own are retired Stampin’ Up! papers, but I’ve also purchased pretty papers from other vendors over the years. A while ago I purchased a pack of this bright birthday paper on Amazon specifically to use for church birthday cards. Not exactly in line with my plan, but it was so cheerful and happy I just couldn’t resist. And then of course I promptly forgot about it. Until Saturday morning, that is!😊

As I said, the patterned paper that I used for this card is not from Stampin’ Up! All of the rest of the supplies are from Stampin’ Up! and it shows the versatility of these products. The stamped banner features a retired stamp set called Happiest Day, and the banner die is from the Nested Essentials dies. What I’m trying to convey is how versatile Stampin’ Up! products are, and you can combine them with products from other companies – it’s all good!

When I saw this sketch come out I knew that I wanted to create a card using it. However, it was Holy Week and I had way too much going on for church so I didn’t have time to create while the challenge was “live”.

Last weekend I knew that I wanted to use this sketch to create the cards for the May birthdays. This sketch is totally up my alley with a grid-like layout and the possibility of showing off some great patterned paper.
