I just got home from a wonderful week in glorious Cape Cod. My husband and I vacationed with some friends at the beach – we had our own cute little cottage an easy walk away from the time-share that they own. And to make it even better, my sister came down and joined us for the 2nd half of our stay. We were blessed with gorgeous, sunny days with only one day being too windy to spend on the beach. I created this card back in June when I wanted to play with the Colorful Seasons stamp set. This stamp set is so incredibly versatile, and the bundled dies are just amazing! You really can create a card for any season using this great bundle. If you haven’t checked out this bundle, I definitely encourage you to do so – you won’t regret it.

I created this card using two stamp sets, and I used the masking technique to get the layered perspective so that the beach chair appears closer than the water. I first stamped the sling seat using Cajun Craze, and then masked it using thin copy paper. Then I cut a piece of copy paper to create the curved edge of the beach/water edge. I attached the bottom of the paper over the beach area to mask it and stamped the water image from the High Tide stamp set. I then used an Aqua Painter to soften the water ridges and create the lighter blue look of the water. Then I used the upper piece of the copy paper to mask over the water, removed the lower copy paper (leaving the mask over the sling seat), and sponged with Sahara Sand ink to create the beach. Finally, I removed the masks and completed the stamping of the rest of the elements. The cute drink is stamped separately and cut out with the wee little die in the Seasonal Layers Thinlits. I will pull this card out to re-capture the beach feel when we are in the throes of deepest, darkest winter.
