I think the mother of a good friend of mine would approve of this card. Heather and I have gotten together occasionally over the years to make Christmas cards, and we inevitably discuss whether or not her mother would like a card – it always comes down to the colors selected. Her mom is very much a traditional color Christmas card gal. The patterned paper on this card doesn’t scream Christmas, but it is from a pack of Christmas themed papers. The reverse side has a bunch of decorated trees, that I’ve been frankly struggling to use, so I solved my problem by using this side. I think that the combination of colors and sentiment make it glaringly obvious that this is a Christmas card… no decorated trees required.
I used this older sketch as the inspiration for my card. I was drawing a blank on how to incorporate the line across the bottom of the focal panel. Then I had a brain blast and decided to try a thin strip of cardstock that breaks for the word “wishes”. I’ve never tried it before, but I’m kinda liking the look. You may see it again in the future. *grin*
