I’m really looking forward to participating in a stamping event this weekend. It’s my first time for this particular event and I’m impressed with the pre-event things that I’m seeing. One of the things that the organizers have done is share a weekly pre-event challenge for 4 weeks before the event. This card is my creation for the 4th (and last) challenge. When I saw that the layout was a grid card I nearly swooned because that is one of my favorite things to do. The samples that the event coordinators shared with the challenge were all non-Holiday and showed how different the card looks with different patterned papers. Every one of their cards was amazing! And when you have the measurements already figured out for you, that makes these cards much less difficult. I decided to make a batch of 9 of these cards to add more to my stash of Christmas cards this year. It used only a little of the pretty patterned paper so I have lots left for other cards.
The stamped greetings on the front and inside of this card are the reason that I bought the Very Best Occasions stamp set. You can check it out here. I’ve used the set twice before for birthday cards, and I was able to use it for the stamps I loved most for this card. Don’t get me wrong, there are some great paired greetings in this set and I’m sure that I will use others in the future. I really appreciate the versatility of this set – pair it with some great floral or leafy images and/or patterned paper and you have a winning card for many different occasions.
I leaned into a bit of word play based on the front greeting. I colored the holly leaves with Old Olive and Real Red markers (not Blends) and added Wink of Stella over the leaves (for a bit of sparkle). The ribbon also adds some glittery shine which is another sparkly element. I considered adding some gems but decided that there was enough going on with this card already and more embellishments might tip it over the edge. 😉
