Today I’m sharing a last hurrah creation with the Year to Celebrate set. This set is one of the many that are retiring from in the September – December mini catalog. I just barely discovered that this stamp set is already sold out, so you can’t purchase it now 😞. I was going to say that it’s one of the discounted items from the retirement list, but… that’s old news. Sorry about that!
I created this card for the January birthdays for our church. The card ministry coordinator contacted me a couple of days ago to give me the count for January and thankfully it isn’t too high since I hadn’t created any in advance. It seems like I’m always creating Christmas cards way into December, so I don’t have an opportunity to get ahead on the cards for the card ministry. Thankfully I typically take vacation between Christmas and New Year’s so I have some downtime for making up a batch of cards. I decided to go with a bright color scheme since it has been especially dreary lately here in VT. I figure that people need some bright, cheerful colors if they’re celebrating their special day in January. This year we have no snow (the little that we had was melted in a very heavy rainstorm over a week ago), and it is a very drab stick-season look outside right now. So bright patterns and colors to the rescue!
I designed this card based on an online challenge in a private group. The challenge host created three samples of very different cards that featured circles in varying sizes to create a background. It is a great way to add some interest and a variety of patterns when you used patterned paper. You just need some circle dies in varying sizes and you can create this look, too. It really is a lot of fun, and quite simple, so I encourage you to give it a try! I deviated a little from her examples because she always had the large white circle with the stamped image in the forefront of the card. With this stamp set, I wanted to use the greeting along with a party blower, so I changed it up a little to have a sentiment in a slightly smaller circle popped up along with the large white circle. I have to say that I’m pretty happy with how this turned out – if I do say so myself.
