A very versatile cardMake your own collage image

I love the collage look for stamping; it reminds me of older, Victorian style imagery.  Stampin' Up! has several stamp sets that lend themselves to the faux-collage technique.  This creation features one of those that came out in the Occasions Mini catalog, and thankfully the set was carried forward into the new catalog in July.  I love how these images go so well together!  This card is really a beautiful general purpose card, since it doesn't have a specific sentiment on it.  These types of cards are really useful because you can use them for a birthday, thinking of you, get well, just about anything – you customize by what you put inside.

To create the faux collage look, you will create masks for each of the elements that you are going to stamp.  Stamp the one you want in the foreground first, then put the corresponding mask over it.  Then stamp the image that you want layered next and put the mask over that stamped image.  Keep stamping and masking until you have created the collage image that you want.  The most time consuming aspect is cutting out the various masks for the stamped images.  I do love the look, so I think it is worth it to do this once in a while.

I used the following supplies to make this card:

  • Stamps:  Nature Walk
  • Cardstock: Naturals Ivory, Baja Breeze, Early Espresso, Pink Pirouette
  • Ink:  Early Espresso
  • Accessories:  Stampin' Sponges, Basic Pearls
