I recently attended the Winter online retreat (my 6th one) and the ladies nailed it again! This time two of the presenters were impacted by internet issues that delayed the start of their first session. This card was the first project shared by the second gal with internet issues. We started 15-20 minutes late, and she was an absolute rock star. Other than the greatly delayed start, and the comments in the chat that gave us updates on her challenges, we couldn’t tell that anything had gone wrong. She shared that she was so grateful for her friends that helped her out, and then she continued to present her project like nothing had gone awry. She was unflappable!
This card featured a technique that she called Colored Vellum Die Cuts. I replicated one of her designs exactly rather than venturing off on my own. There are lots of layers on the front of this card, but the star of the card is the embossed vellum heart that fills most of the space. It is so easy to create, and it gives a great background element; I encourage you to give it a try! Here’s how you do it:
- Diecut the largest heart using the Hearts of Elegance dies in both vellum cardstock and Basic White cardstock
- Emboss the vellum heart with the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder
- Use several colors of Stampin’ Blends to color the front and back of the vellum heart
- Follow the embossed lines to accentuate the pattern
- Adhere the colored vellum heart to the corresponding Basic White heart to provide a background to highlight the colors
- Use this embossed diecut layer as a background element on your project

The inside of this card is pretty, too! There are lots of layers and even more hearts. There are so many layers on this card, I’m quite confident that extra postage will be required to mail this gem. It’s so pretty tho, it will be worth the extra cost to send this card to someone special.
