Last week my husband and I spent a wonderful week in Bar Harbor Maine. I can’t express how absolutely amazing it was to travel for vacation and visit a new spot. We chose this destination deliberately – we could drive so we didn’t have to contend with crowds in airports or craziness on planes. We rented an Airbnb that had a full kitchen, so we could cook at home, and not have to deal with crowds in a hotel. We did eat out a few times, but we ate outside and it was absolutely glorious! And we wore our masks when we were inside or in a crowd. So, it felt manageably safe, and we were able to relax. The main thing to do in Bar Harbor is to visit Acadia National Park, and I purchased a pass for the week so we visited several of the days while we were there. The park was very busy when we visited, but the locals told us that it was much less busy than normal. I can’t imagine how insane the park must be with normal visitor patterns. In a strange way, I’m so glad that we got to visit in this crazy time because I think it would have felt unsafe to visit with the normal size of crowds.

You may be wondering what the picture has to do with all of this. I really enjoy bringing Paper Pumpkin kits with me when I travel. They are a great way to spend a bit of time at the vacation homestead to keep busy in some downtime. I tend to work on the kits in the morning while my husband is still dozing (I’m more of an early riser than he is). It’s something quiet that I can do to keep my hands busy and not disturb him. The packages are relatively small and include all you need (except scissors), and the boxes pack easily and keep the contents safe. This time around I brought 2 kits with me; the Hope Box kit (August 2021) and the June 2019 kit that you see me working on in the picture. Of course, a nice cup of coffee is a necessity in the morning and is a perfect companion to crafting. The beachy theme to this kit seemed perfect to bring to the ocean, but ironically the Airbnb we rented was in the middle of the woods. Although, the ocean was very, very close!

Regarding Paper Pumpkin, I’m really excited for the October kit. Again this year, the kit will be a set of Christmas cards and it is a great way to make a dent in the cards that you need for the Holiday season this year. I always love putting together the Holiday card kits and I’m sure that this year will be no exception. If you’re already a Paper Pumpkin subscriber, then you’ll receive this great kit next month. If you’re not, you can sign up between now and October 10th to make sure that you get this kit. You can click on the image above to go to my Paper Pumpkin subscription page and learn more. Or, you can purchase pre-paid subscriptions using links below. There are multiple ways to get your hands on a kit!
