Cupcake Surprise

We’re past the mid-point of August and that means it is time to whip up another batch of cards for our church birthday card ministry. This month I dug into the hoard of retired supplies that I have stashed away in the basement as well as old Paper Pumpkin stamps for the greeting. The star of this card is the fun (but sadly retired) Picture Perfect Party 6″x6″ DSP. These graphic patterns in bright colors are perfect for a birthday wish for anyone. And the cute cupcake is just the touch to give the card a festive birthday element.

The Hello Cupcake stamp set was one of the offerings from Sale-A-Bration in 2019, back in the old days when we only had 1 Sale-A-Bration event in a year. Pfft! How did we get by with only one SAB annually? I’m so glad that Stampin’ Up! has decided to add a second event in the late summer/early fall so that we can be inspired and get some more free stamping goodies that we all love. Now I have to tell you about this card layout… I CASE’d a creation shared online by fellow demonstrator Dawn Olchefske. She used different papers and stamps, but I totally copied the design for my creation. What I especially love about this is that the dimensions of the patterned paper pieces are absolutely perfect to use all of a sheet of DSP (either 6×6″ or 12×12″) when mass producing a bunch of cards. I get a little hit of joy when I can use up some old paper and not waste any of it. And I have to thank my friend (and fellow demo) Heather Jenkins for calling my attention to Dawn’s creation. Thanks Heather – you totally know what I’ll love!
