I just learned that Elton John has announced that he’ll be retiring after one last tour. He has had an amazing career over the years, and I’m sure that his shows will be even more popular now that we know they’ll be the last ones. I think that he would appreciate the opulence of the Eastern Palace suite that I used on this card here. I think it is a fitting send off to the king of glam!

Actually… this was the simpler card that we made at the South Burlington stamp club last evening. I realized that I hadn’t shown the ladies the amazing versatility of the Eastern Medallions dies, and I needed a quicker card, so this seemed like a perfect opportunity to introduce them.

I used this sketch as the basis for the card design. This layout gave me the opportunity to pull in the stamps, dies and beautiful patterned paper from the Eastern Palace suite. I used dimensionals behind the Very Vanilla to add some depth behind the focal die cut image which makes for a nice contrast. To help pop it up, I used some of the mini dimensionals within the medallion die cut image. These little dimensionals fit perfectly in there!
