I designed this quilt card for the South Burlington stamp club group. I hadn’t had a chance to feature this bundle with the group yet, and with its impending retirement, I just had to make sure that they didn’t overlook this lovely set from the Holiday catalog. As a person who also quilts, I was especially excited when I saw the super cute suite in the catalog. And of course, I’m super bummed that it isn’t being carried forward. The cool embossing folder that I used on the lower panel is staying, so that softens the blow a wee bit. Once products are retired, I typically offer them for sale in a yard sale or if I receive one-off requests; this is one of the rare sets that I will probably hold on to for personal use.
One of my goals with this card was to show that several products from the Holiday catalog could be used for everyday occasions and not just for the specific times of year highlighted in the catalog. Of course, the quilt bundle is one – you can easily switch up the color scheme for a non-Christmas card. The others are not so obvious. The DSP in the upper panel is from the Painted Autumn pack, the reverse side is the gorgeous sunflower paper (it did pain me a bit to cut into that pretty paper). The black rhinestone in the center of the diecut flower is from the page with the Spooky Night suite. Black is such a versatile color, so of course these rhinestones are usable for non-Halloween projects as well.
These products that are from the Holiday catalog are retiring as of January 2nd (except the embossing folder), so I encourage you to purchase them ASAP if you want them. The versatility of the quilt “blocks” that you can create with the bundle is amazing – if you are a quilter like me, or have one in your life, you will definitely get use out of this bundle.
