I created this card during an online event that I joined several weeks ago. This card has the look of paper tearing with the uneven edges around the colorful section with the stamped images. I really love this look and it is so easy to create. All you need is masking paper, blending brushes, and stamps. That’s it – easy peasy! Here’s how you do it.
- Cut masking paper to 5 1/2″ x 4″
- Tear the paper in half the long way
- Try not to have the tearing be too straight so that you get the look of the uneven edges
- I wish that I had altered the tearing on one of the pieces so that it wasn’t so obvious that the torn edges were opposite sides of the same piece
- Adhere the two pieces of the masking paper to a 4 3/4″ x 3 1/2″ piece of Basic White
- Leave a gap between the pieces that will be the inked and stamped section
- Use a blending brush to apply ink to the cardstock
- Remember to brush from the masking paper onto the white cardstock to have smooth blending and avoid blotching
- I blend lightly; slowly adding color to get the look that I want
- Stamp the butterflies (or other images) overlapping with the masking paper
- Carefully remove the masking paper and stamp the sentiment
The stamp set and coordinating dies that I used for my card are retired, but you can totally create this look with any stamps that you have on hand. You just need stamps with varying sized images so you can fill in the blended panel that you created.

This is the inside of the card. It also features the paper tearing look from the front along the bottom of the inside panel. I absolutely love the look and think it is gorgeous; especially with this color scheme. I adore the combination of Peach Pie and Early Espresso!
