I took some creative time this weekend to participate in a couple of current challenges. I made this my resolution for the new year, and I haven't done it for a bit so it was time to step back into the breach.
I am planning an all-occasion card buffet soon, so I need to experiment with different designs so that I can offer a nice variety to my participants. I love how this card turned out, but with the coloring of the flowers (using Blender pens, by the way) and then fussy cutting them out, this card just would take too long for a mass-production class of this type. So – I will add it to my stash as a sample and later on send it out to a friend that needs a pick-me-up.
This time I'm participating in a color challenge from one of my favorite sites. I refer to this place so often for color inspiration, and it makes me smile to be able to participate while the challenge is still running. This site has so many great color combinations that I use for inspiration long after the challenge has wrapped up. So – what do you think – did I do ok with the color combo? I will confess that I needed to make two substitutions; Cool Caribbean is no longer available, so I used Pool Party instead, and Smoky Slate is the new "Going Gray". I also added a little bit of Soft Suede for the centers of the flowers, all of the rest of the colors are as intended… Actually, that leaves only Hello Honey and Blushing Bride – huh!
By the way – Hello Honey is one of the 2014-2016 In Colors that will be retiring very shortly. The retirement list for the main catalog is going to be released on Monday, and this group of colors will be on it. If you want anything from those colors, please order online ASAP – these items are ALWAYS the first things to sell out from the retirement list. Just a reminder, the retiring In Colors are: Blackberry Bliss (color me sad about that), Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow and Tangelo Twist (my least favorite of the group).
