I have had this stamp set and coordinating dies for ages since it was first released in a Spring mini catalog a couple of years ago. I’m chagrined to admit that this card is the very first time that I’ve used either of the products. This is a really amazing set for creating masculine themed cards, and I haven’t been making as many of those as I usually do. I decided that I needed to make a special card for my husband to celebrate Father’s Day this year. I always give him a card, but I really wanted to spend some extra time this year because we can’t do very much to mark the day on Sunday. I hope that he likes it!
I used the Gray Granite ink on the Gray Granite cardstock both for the Stacked Stone stamp as well as rubbed with a dauber over the embossed layer. To soften the look I used another dauber with Whisper White craft ink to brush over the top. If I was to do this over, I would create one of the layers in a different color or tone to have a more pronounced difference between the layers. The red along the edge of the embossed layer does provide some pop, but it feels like it needs something a little different (perhaps).

I just discovered the Just Add Ink challenge blog, and I’m so excited! This is a sketch from a previous challenge, and I immediately thought of using the Geared Up Garage images and coordinating dies with it. I’m really liking having angled elements on cards lately, so this one was perfect for my current likes. I can’t wait to participate in a “live” challenge from this site, so stay tuned.
