hexagon_demo_colourqEvery year during Lent I send out cards to friends and family just to let them know that I'm thinking of them. Instead of giving something up, I add something on each day. I know it isn't the Lenten season now, but it is still fun to send a card "just because" to a friend. I think that my friend Laura would enjoy this card.

I have to admit that I am not the originator of this card layout. I get card ideas by surfing all over the place. Sometimes I find a card sketch and design a card from that, other times I see a finished card and it sparks an idea in my head. And occasionally, I see a card design that I love so much that I have to copy it directly. This is called a "CASE" for Copy And Stamp Everything. That is what happened with this card. The only thing that I've changed about this layout is the various colors that I used (more on that in a bit). I'm not sure who shared this design, but I fell in love with the simplicity and I had to copy it.ColourQ challenge #200

As I mentioned earlier, the only thing I changed was the color scheme that I used for this card. I changed this up to use a color combination featured last week out on the ColourQ site. I didn't get this posted in time to officially participate in the challenge, but that was the inspiration for the color change from the original. Also, I used the Naturals White cardstock and the original designer used Whisper White for the stamping area. The images stamp more crisply on the Whisper White, but I do like the feel of the Naturals White. I may give this same design a try in Christmas colors and see how I like it on Whisper White. Wouldn't that be fun?

I used the following materials to make this card:

  • Stamps: Six Sided Sampler
  • Cardstock: Naturals White, Midnight Muse
  • Ink: Old Olive, So Saffron, Marina Mist, Midnight Muse
  • Accessories: Hexagon punch, Basic Pearls, Stampin' Dimensionals
