wetlands_beach_sceneFor years my family would vacation in Cape Cod for a week in August with some very dear friends. We are now saving our pennies to pay for college costs so we're vacationing closer to home and forgoing this wonderful trip. My husband and I recently reminisced about our great trips to the Cape and those chats have me longing for the sound of the surf and smells of the ocean. This card is a way that I can recreate those scenes without spending the money for a beach cottage. We definitely want to go back some day, but it will be a couple more years at least, so cards like this will have to fill in the gap instead.

I created this card for the July stamp club gathering. One of the members asked me a couple of times to do a project featuring the Wetlands stamp set, and I finally got around to it. This card is an almost direct CASE (Copy And Stamp Everything) of another card that I found on Pinterest (gotta love that site!). Hers had the artwork right on the Whisper White card with no layers and it was absolutely GoJuss! I used her design and added a couple of layers to introduce a bit more color, but the major design element is still the stamped and sponged images on the white cardstock. I think it is pretty amazing that you can create this beautiful scene with cardstock, ink, sponges and copy paper, but it is absolutely true.  I tore the edges of the copy paper and layed them over the top and bottom of the white cardstock. I then pulled the sponged colors from that paper onto the cardstock to create the scene. The horizon line was made using a straight edge of the paper and sponging on (very carefully) a little bit of Island Indigo ink.  There are no other embellishments here, and I think that they would be wasted on this card.
