I created a whole bunch of these cards for the May birthday card ministry for our church. There are actually 3 different paper combinations in my cards because of the way that I cut the paper for this layout. I’ve done a few of these before, but it has been a while since I posted one here. When I do this card design, I use 2 sheets of patterned paper that I cut up to get the 4 sizes you see here. The card will have each side of the paper, showing 4 different patterns. The key is to pick papers that look good together front-and-back. And typically Stampin’ Up! patterned papers are great for this – no worrying about color matching. When I said I did 3 different paper combinations it’s because I used 6 sheets of patterned paper. Two sheets for each batch of 16 cards. Yep – that’s right – I made 48 cards this month! May is a big birthday month at our church, and the card senders have enough supply for May so I don’t have to supplement further. In fact, they will have a few left over to use in a pinch in the future.
There are a couple of retiring things that I used on this card – the greeting stamp set and the Design a Daydream patterned paper. In one of the sets of 16 I also used the retiring Mint Macaron cardstock. I have to say – I’m still surprised that color ended up on the chopping block. Anyhow – the large packs of the patterned paper are perfect for my card ministry creations because they have a bunch of paper so I can create a large batch of cards, and I don’t feel like I have to be frugal with it. I like featuring patterned paper on these cards because the great designs add a lot of color and pattern, and I can add a quick greeting to have a unique card. I use some of my large supply of paper, church members get unique cards, and the senders enjoy writing a message and sending them along. It’s a win-win-win!
