In my post yesterday I mentioned that my heart is heavy due to the passing of a lovely lady from our church (I’ll call her “A” here). I’m a member of the church choir and A’s family are well represented among the group. Her husband and son are both beautiful tenors and her daughter-in-law is an amazing soprano. This all means that I’ve known for a while that she has been ill (the family didn’t share this widely among the church), and the choir would get updates on how she was doing. All this is to say that it wasn’t a surprise to get the news on Wednesday; but that doesn’t mean that it’s any easier. My heart is heavy for my fellow choir members that are grieving and I hope that my cards let them know that we care and grieve with them. Her daughter-in-law shared some pictures on Facebook showing A with family and my favorite was with a toddler checking out a tree. The smiles on their faces was luminous. This sweet lady will be missed by so many people, and we’re all sad today as we miss her.
I used this current sketch challenge as the inspiration for my card design. I really like the offset rectangles for the focal image and the Stitched Rectangle dies are perfect for creating these shapes with some added stitching elements. I used this sketch as my first opportunity to feature the pretty Pretty Prints patterned paper. It creates a beautiful background that has some subtle pattern and I thought it was perfect for my current project. Also these papers go wonderfully with the theme of the Nature’s Prints stamps and coordinating dies. I look forward to creating more with the Sun Prints Suite in the future.
What an elegant and serene card! Love the beautiful image and pretty patterned papers you used to create it!
Thank you so much Celeste – your kind words really brightened my day!
What a beautiful card! I’m so sorry to hear about the passing of your church friend. This card will definitely be a comfort to her family. I just love those rich colours! The diecuts are perfect! Thanks for joining us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!
Thank you so much Jen – I loved the sketch and was glad to have it for inspiration for my card.
