I created this card during a recent online stamping event that I attended. This card features the Happy Hibiscus bundle and it is the first time that I inked up any of the stamps. This bundle is an OnLine Exclusive product and I believe that it came out in November. I have to say that I’m of two minds regarding this program. The thing that I absolutely love is that it is a great way for Stampin’ Up!™ to introduce new products frequently. So we can get new goodies more often than 3 times a year when catalogs come out. The down side is that it is easy for you and me to forget about these products when we shop. On the Stampin’ Up! website there is a navigation for Online Exclusives when you click or tap on the Menu option. Or you can use this link here to see all of the great Online Exclusive products.

The stamping on this card is really quite simple. I used black ink to stamp the outline images for the flowers and leaves on the front panel and on scraps that I diecut and used on the inside. I used the fill-in stamp for the leaves with Lemon Lime Twist ink and a sponge dauber to apply the Melon Mambo ink for the flowers. I love the look for the flowers and it is so simple! Ink up the dauber and dab in the center to apply more ink, and then dab lightly around the petals without re-inking. This is a super easy way to get the look that you see here. It’s been a long time since I used my daubers and I was so happy to be reminded how useful they are.

This is the inside of the card. I used an old Stampin’ Trimmer to score a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of cardstock and then cut lines between the first and last score line. Then I was inserted pieces of Basic White cardstock which gives the woven look that you see here. The front and the back of the card are 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ pieces of Melon Mambo that are stamped to have a tone-on-tone look. These panels are adhered to the end pieces of the center section to create the extended card that you see above. It’s hard to describe without sharing instructions that are the intellectual property of the demonstrator that taught us. I did a quick online search and didn’t find anyone else sharing something like this, so it is a true original.

There is also a surprise with this card! This still blows my mind every time I open the card, and it is soooo cool. The white panels inside open again to have another section with another place to write and have another stamped hibiscus flower. It’s magical! It kind of reminds me of the never ending card because my brain can’t really wrap around how it works. This card doesn’t keep going like the never ending card, but it is a true card engineering marvel. This is one of my favorite projects from the online retreat!
