I created this card to send out to several friends for Valentine’s Day this year. I’m trying to be a bit better about sending out cards to people, and this little “Hallmark Holiday” seemed like a great excuse to get some paper love out in the mail. The colors aren’t the typical Valentine colors, but they aren’t a huge departure, either. Hopefully the cheery colors will bring a smile to the recipients.
This card features the “Braided Paper” technique from a CD that I recently purchased from Pat Huntoon. This CD has a variety of tutorials that all feature using patterned paper, or Designer Series Paper (DSP) in Stampin’ Up! parlance. One of my favorite things about this technique is that it is really great for using those small paper strips that can accumulate (if you’re frugal like me). I don’t feel right describing the technique here, since Pat is really the source of the tutorial and I don’t want to step on her copyright privileges. But, I’m happy to recommend that you check out the CD, or any of the other ones that she sells. Here is a link so you can check out the “Designer Paper Perfection” CD.
I used the following materials to make this card:
- Stamps: Four Frames, Filled with Love (retired)
- Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, Summer Starfruit, Very Vanilla
- Ink: Primrose Petals, Gumball Green
- Accessories: Print Poetry DSP stack (retired), Adorning Accents embossing folder, Fancy Fan embossing folder, Decorative Label punch, Small Heart punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I got my cheerful valentine and as usual was intrigued by the design! You made my day!
