This card is actually a CASE of a card that was shared by Sara Douglass (CEO of Stampin' Up!) at the On Stage event back in April. This is a stamp set that was new with the big catalog release in June, and it is perfect for the paper piecing technique. Her sample featured some different colors but I followed her advice and used the colors from a DSP coordinating cardstock pack for the images. Sara suggested that this is a great card to make a bunch to have on hand. In her example (if I remember correctly) she made a bunch of invitations that she intended to use for a party. This really is a very cost effective card, and since it isn't especially lumpy it will go through the mail without any issues.
I shared this card with the stamp club gals a couple of months ago. We stamped the whole image on the notecard and each of the colors. Then we added the sparkle and greeting images that are on the card base. The greeting portions were then stamped on the sections as you see them here. We cut out the arrow portion and the birthday banner section entirely along the outside edge of the image. We had to do the fiddliest cutting along the left edge of the Pumpkin Pie piece, but we didn't have to be careful of the other edges on that section because the other panels cover portions. Lastly we stamped the outline star image on the back of the silver glimmer paper and cut them out and glued them down over their counterpart images on the sign.
